Painting
For a long time, I did not consider myself a painter even though I've painted for many years. Recently, I've found myself gravitating towards this medium more, enjoying the expression of color and creativity I find in it.
Portraits From The Forest
It has become somewhat of a tradition for me on my solo camping trips to paint a portrait from the forest. In this meditative practice, I gather my supplies and find a tree near my campsite that calls to me. And I paint. While I sit and listen to the natural world around me, I begin to do a detailed study of this individual tree - or group of trees. This series has produced some of my favorite paintings to date. These are the portraits of lives who have lived for decades - if not centuries - before me, and who will do so long after me.
Terracotta Pots
The last few years I have found a love for plants and combining that with my artwork. I love seeing something grow from my art and bring life into people's spaces.
Glassware
Painting on glass is something unique and fun to do. I love seeing how the paintings transform once a drink is poured in them and the dynamic element the glass shapes add to the paintings.
Candles
The first "nontraditional" material to paint on was a candle years ago which made me discover how fun it is to paint on other surfaces outside of paper and canvas. One of my favorite parts of painting candles is the smoothness the paint has on the wax.
